My Story

Growing up, I spent countless hours exploring my artistic side, sketching, painting, and sculpting with the natural clay that was abundant in our backyard. The walls of my room gradually filled with my creations, and at some point, my mother had to draw the line when I began painting on almost every surface I could find.

Although I gave up studying Art as a subject at school, my passion for creating never faded. In fact, it flourished quietly. I continued to make art for myself, away from the world, no grades, no remarks, just pure expression. Looking back now, I can hardly recall where my inspiration came from for some of my favourite pieces as a schoolgirl. I simply remember letting my imagination spill onto paper before I had time to think. That same instinctive, expressive approach still shapes my work today, just as it did twenty years ago.

Art remained something I did behind closed doors while I pursued a corporate career until motherhood changed everything. Stepping away from work gave me the freedom to reconnect with my creative self. Moving from Sri Lanka to New Zealand deepened that journey; the quiet and sense of longing I felt here stirred something within me. I began painting with a renewed intensityas if creating had become my nourishment. The more I paint, the more I cherish the silence that surrounds me.
